One of our favourite things ever is catching up with brides and grooms after their big day and, of course, seeing all the pretty photos!
Towards the end of last year, gorgeous Kim and her Kyle tied the knot in a beautiful Scottish-themed wedding ceremony. We just love that she chose a Merwe Mode (our sister brand) dress to wear for her special day.
Read our Q&A with Kim below:
Can you briefly share your and Kyle's love story?
We met on OkCupid in 2015 and since that day we have only been apart for 7 days when Kyle has had to go away for work. It sounds very cliche but as soon as we met, we just clicked. I think we both knew very early on that we would be married someday.
How would you describe your wedding day? What are your favourite memories?
Although our wedding wasn't anything like I had imagined since I was little (for many reasons but mainly because of lockdown), it was still the most perfect and beautiful day and we really couldn't have asked for anything better. We had a Scottish theme to our wedding so our favourite memory is definitely walking back down the aisle together as husband and wife as the bagpipes played us off.
What advice would you have for any couples in the thick of wedding planning right now?
Whatever it is you're worried about while planning won't matter to you on the day. However, our experience was quite different from the norm in that we planned the wedding in 4 weeks because of a terminal illness in the family and lockdown restrictions.
This forced us to make decisions very quickly which actually became a blessing in disguise as there wasn't much time for getting too stressed out about things. So just take it chilled and try to enjoy the process as much as possible.
Tell me about your dress! What did you love most about it?
I actually bought the dress off the rack at The Bello Studio.
It was the first dress I tried on and I loved it. I loved how it was so simple but with so many interesting elements like the open back, the high-low hem and especially the pockets! Pockets are very useful on your wedding day! It really suited the Scottish theme and the relaxed vibe of the wedding.
The dress isn't what I always imagined but I knew as soon as I tried it on that it was the dress for me.
