One of our favourite things ever, is catching up with brides and grooms after their big day and, of course, seeing all the pretty photos!
Last year, we worked with gorgeous bride, Lee-Anne to create the perfect dress for her and Phumelele’s Autumn wedding, as well as two unique floral bridesmaid outfits. Here’s a quick Q&A we did with her:
Please tell me your and Phumelele's love story in three sentences or less?
We met on 01 Jan 2018 at Camps bay beach while he was on duty as a lifeguard. He taught me about rugby and lifesaving (that I knew nothing about) and I taught him to cook. We love the beach, soccer and anything fitness.
How would you describe your wedding day?
Chilled , Fun , Happiness. It was a reflection of us. Our ceremony was at Welgemeend in Gardens and our reception at Clifton Lifesaving club at Clifton 4th. We wanted the outdoor nature feel to our wedding because that is how we spend a lot of time together.
What are your favourite memories?
The ceremony and exchanging of vows (I cried, good thing my dress had pockets to keep my tissues , Lol) My son Adam walking me down the aisle, he was 9 at the time.
What advice would you have for any brides-to-be in the thick of wedding planning right now?
Don't stress about the small stuff. It really doesn't matter.Plan your wedding the way you want it, be real and authentic. HAVE FUN.
Let’s talk about your dress! What did you love most about it?
I love my wedding dress. I love the pockets and I love the detail and hand work that went into the top part of my dress. It is so beautiful how the lace and buttons were beautifully attached all by hand!
Can you share a bit about the design process with Deeva? Was it what you always imagined your wedding dress would look like or did the outcome surprise you?
I started off by making appointments at bridal boutiques and searching but never liked anything that I saw. What I had in my mind is what I couldn't find. A good friend of mine referred me to Deeva and when I met her , oh my word I just loved her. Deeva has this amazing personality and I love how she worked with me and made my ideas come to life. We went fabric shopping together for my dress and the bridesmaid dresses. I looked forward to every fitting at Merwe Wed.
And the bridesmaid dresses? How did you decide on their look for the day?
I wanted the bridesmaids to be comfortable and for the designs to be similar but not identical and so each one designed how they wanted their dress to look. Their dresses were also a gift to them so I wanted something that they would be able to wear again after the wedding.
